The AZ Awards celebrates the world’s best in Architecture and Design. The hosts of the annual gala, AZURE magazine, were seeking a refresh to their existing identity that could easily be translated across digital and print platforms and adapted year after year. We provided an identity that connects with the newly refreshed AZURE magazine and built a system of expressive and active tools for celebration and motion.
A driving idea of this refresh and the line is why awards matter and the impact recognition has on the nominees. Like the awards themselves, the line served as a starting point and the ripple effect of winning and award created opportunities to activate the line in various forms and patterns from initial marketing to the full expression of the show graphics.

The Newsletter illustrates how the line highlights call to actions, add structure to detailed content, and frame imagery.
The 2019 Submissions Video expands the system with a suite of patterns and distinct motion for each category.
The awards show is an exciting and energetic night showcasing the best work on the big screen. The show graphics we developed consider the full experience: from music selection, and show pacing, to new features such as a countdown as the audience gathers and jury interludes weaving a narrative throughout the show.
Vibrant category colours and patterns help bring energy and distinction to the show graphics.
The Jury videos broaden the conversation beyond an introduction and extend the gala experience. The videos feature footage of the jury deliberating paired with one on one interviews with each juror speaking on why awards matter, the jury process, the current and future state of architecture and design. These videos are woven throughout the show elevating the gala experience with engaging, and memorable reflections.
